Alfred Charles Sharpton Jr. is an American civil right activist, a television talk show host, Baptist minister and a White House adviser. He was born in the year 1954, 3rd October which makes him 72 years of age. According to 60 Minutes, he has become Obama’s “go to Black leader”. In the year 2004, he was a candidate for Democratic nomination for the presidential election in the states. He also hosts his own show named “Keepin It Real” and often makes guest appearances on the Fox News and CNN. His supporters praise his ability and willingness of defying the power structure which is seen as the cause of sufferings and call him the man who aspires to tell it like it is. Ed Koch, a former Mayor of NYC said that Shapoton was the voice of the voiceless and a champion for the downtrodden. In the year 2013, Zogbby Analytics poll found out that one-quarter of African Americans said that Sharpton was their voice.

He is also followed by some critics who call him a political radical who is to be blamed for the annihilation of racial relations. Orlandi Patterson, a sociologist referred him as a racist and Derrick Z. Jackson, a liberal columnist called him as a black who is equivalent to Pat Robertson and Richard Nixon. Sharpton sees those comments as a sign of his effectiveness and opines that in different ways, what people consider as criticisms are the compliments to his jobs and he also said that an activist’s job is to make public and civil rights issues until there could be a climate for change.

He was born in the city of Brooklyn situated at the New York City. His father's name is Alfred Charles Sharpton Sr. and his mother’s name is Ada.

In the year 1963, his father left his mother to have a relationship with a woman who was his half-sister and his mother had to take a job as a maid but the family income was too low that the family actually qualified for the welfare and had to move out from middle-class Hollis, Queen to the public housing projects in the Brownsville neighborhood of the Brooklyn.

He graduated from Samuel J Tilden High School and went to Brooklyn College but he dropped out in the year 1975 which was after two years of his admission. In the year 1972, he accepted a responsibility as a youth director for the presidential campaign of African-American Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and in between the year 1973 and 1980, he served as James Brown’s tour manager.

He had been known for being obese for a long time but he lost over 100 pounds in a time period of four and half years. He also has written some books which include “Go and tell Pharaoh”, “Al on America” and “The rejected Stone”. He has two daughters whose names are Dominique and Ashley. He has a net worth of about 6 million USD according to present report and he keeps on twitting stuffs through his twitter account very often. He was alleged to be having an affair with his girlfriend when still in the marriage knot between him and his second wife.
